Equipment

Ingredients

  • 90 grams flaked almonds
  • 200 grams pecans, roughly chopped
  • 180 grams oat bran
  • 125 grams mixed seeds
  • 3 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 3 tablespoon flaxseed
  • 3 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • tablespoon peanut butter
  • 150 ml olive oil
  • 8 tablespoon honey
  • 150 grams rolled oats

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients, stirring well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together all of the wet ingredients until fully combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly until all of the oats, nuts, and seeds are evenly coated.
  • Transfer the granola mixture to the prepared baking tray and spread it out into an even layer. Gently press the mixture down with the back of a spoon or spatula to encourage those delicious granola clusters to form.
  • Bake for 45 minutes at 150 degrees, or until golden brown and crisp. Check the granola halfway through cooking and gently turn it if necessary to ensure even baking.
  • Once baked, remove the tray from the oven and leave the granola to cool completely on the tray. This step is essential, allowing the granola to cool undisturbed helps create the large crunchy clusters that make homemade granola so irresistible.
  • When completely cool, break the granola into chunks of your desired size and transfer to an airtight container.

Notes

  • For chunky granola: Avoid stirring too much once the granola is spread onto the baking tray. Allow it to cool completely before breaking it apart to create those irresistible crunchy clusters.
  • Make it vegan: Swap the honey for maple syrup to turn this into a delicious vegan granola recipe.
  • Customise it: Feel free to substitute the pecans with walnuts, almonds, or hazelnuts, and use your favourite seeds.
  • Naturally sweetened: This granola is naturally sweetened with honey, making it a wholesome alternative to many shop-bought granolas that contain refined sugars
