These frozen chocolate covered bananas are the ultimate easy summer dessert. Sweet banana slices are dipped in rich melted chocolate, then frozen until perfectly firm for a refreshing, chocolatey treat that's simple to make and naturally vegetarian. Perfect for hot days, after-school snacks, or a healthier dessert when you're craving something sweet.
Peel the bananas and cut each one in half. Slice each half lengthways to create 4 portions per banana.
Carefully insert a skewer into each banana piece, pushing it in just far enough to hold securely.
Place the skewered bananas on a tray or plate and freeze for 1 hour, or until firm.
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water. Stir in the coconut oil until smooth and glossy.
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into a tall glass or jug to make dipping easier. Remove the bananas from the freezer and dip each one into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off.
Place the chocolate-coated bananas onto a tray lined with baking paper. While the chocolate is still wet, quickly sprinkle over your chosen toppings before the chocolate sets.
Return the bananas to the freezer for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set. Store in an airtight container in the freezer and enjoy whenever you fancy a delicious frozen snack.
Set up your toppings before you start dipping. The frozen bananas make the chocolate set very quickly, so you'll need to work fast!

Notes
For the best texture, use bananas that are ripe but still firm. Overripe bananas can become too soft when dipped in chocolate.
Pat the bananas dry before dipping to help the melted chocolate stick properly.
Freeze the bananas on a lined tray before transferring them to an airtight container for longer storage.
Add toppings such as chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or crushed biscuits before the chocolate sets.
Store frozen chocolate covered bananas in the freezer for up to 2 months.
